This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use this website (the "Site") or work with us, how we use it, who we share it with and the rights you have over it.

The Wix Guys is a Wix web design, Wix SEO and Wix support agency with offices at 59 High Street, Maidstone, Kent ME14 1SR and The Guild, 5 Abbey Street, Carlisle CA3 8TX. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. 2. Information we collect

We may collect and process the following personal information:

Contact data: your email address, telephone number and postal address.
Enquiry data: anything you tell us in a form, email, call or chat, such as your website address, what you need and your budget.
Technical data: your IP address, browser type and version, time zone setting, operating system and the device you use to visit the Site.
Usage data: how you use the Site, such as the pages you visit, how long you stay and how you arrived.
Marketing and communications data: your preferences for hearing from us.

Most of this comes directly from you. Technical and usage data is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies, as explained in section 9.

To reply to your enquiry, book calls and send you quotes.
To provide our services and manage our relationship with you, including telling you about changes to our services or this policy.
To carry out our obligations under any contract between you and us, and to invoice and take payment.
To run, secure and improve the Site, and to understand which pages and features are working.
To send you marketing, where you have agreed to receive it or where we are allowed to under the law. You can opt out at any time.
To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

4. Our legal basis for using your information

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, we rely on:

Contract: where we need the information to provide a service you have asked for, or to take steps before entering into a contract with you.
Legal obligation: where the law requires us to keep or share information, for example for tax and accounting.
Legitimate interests: where it is necessary to run and improve our business, such as replying to enquiries and keeping the Site secure, as long as your rights do not override those interests.
Consent: for analytics and marketing cookies and for marketing emails. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

5. Who we share your information with

We use trusted service providers to run our business. They only process your information on our instructions and must keep it secure. They include:

Wix, which hosts this Site and stores the forms you submit.
GoHighLevel, our customer relationship management system, which stores enquiries and powers the chat widget on the Site.
Google (Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager) and Microsoft (Microsoft Clarity), which help us understand how the Site is used, only if you accept analytics cookies.
Usercentrics, which runs our cookie banner and records your cookie choices.
Our email, phone, video call, project management and accounting providers.
Our professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers.

We may also share information with regulators or law enforcement where the law requires it, or with a buyer if our business is restructured or sold. We never sell your personal data.

6. International transfers

Some of our service providers store data outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States. Where your information is transferred outside the UK, we make sure it is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the UK's adequacy regulations, the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Keeping your information secure

We use technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including encrypted connections, access controls and secure, reputable providers. No method of sending or storing data over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. How long we keep your information

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes above. Enquiries that do not lead to work are normally deleted within two years. Client records, including invoices and contracts, are kept for six years after our work ends, to meet tax and legal requirements. When we no longer need your data, we securely delete or anonymise it.

9. Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small files stored on your device. When you first visit the Site, we ask which cookies you are happy for us to use. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link.

Essential cookies keep the Site working and secure and remember your cookie choices. These are always on.
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Microsoft Clarity) show us how visitors use the Site, such as which pages are popular and where people get stuck, so we can improve it. These only run if you accept them.
Marketing cookies help us measure our advertising (including the Meta Pixel, from Meta Platforms Ireland). These only run if you accept them.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the Site may not work properly if you do.

10. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

be informed about how your data is used;
access the personal data we hold about you;
have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected;
have your data erased in certain circumstances;
restrict how we use your data in certain circumstances;
receive your data in a portable format;

withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

The Site links to other websites, including our clients' sites and review platforms. We are not responsible for how those websites handle your data, so please read their privacy policies.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
